Friday Love List: Spring Break Edition
Posted March 05, 2009
It's been a while since I did one of these. For those of you who don't know, it's a Meg Fowler thing, although this week she did Thursday Love List instead. Not me though. I'm a rule follower. So Friday Love List it is.
First, I must say that I love a paid week off. I did the math earlier and figured out that my last paid time off was over Christmas of 2005. Yikes.
Probably I shouldn't love the forecast for this spring break. A lot of people would be bummed to see showers or thunderstorms predicted for every day. But really, it just vindicates my plan to spend as much of my break as possible reading under some sort of blanket. Plus, I do love a good thunderstorm, especially when all I have to do is stay inside and listen to it.
Grilled cheese sandwiches. I don't love them any more than I usually do, but I have had an abundance of them lately and I'm not sorry.
A song that I am currently loving: Another Country by Tift Merritt. I heard it in the movie New in Town and looked it up when I got home. I think it's lovely.
The way that my coworkers are so delightfully inappropriate when there aren't any children about.
Red velvet cake. I hadn't ever had it before, but Holly recently said she liked it, so I made some red velvet cupcakes last weekend for her birthday. (If only it could have been an armadillo cake instead. Sadly, I lack that kind of culinary skill.) I have to say, red velvet is pretty good. You really need to eat it in conjunction with the cream cheese frosting though, which throws off my whole cupcake-eating process. Which normally is: 1) lick frosting off 2) eat top o' the cupcake 3) peel and eat the cupcake stump. It's neater that way and also conforms to my personal motto: Have the best now and save the less good stuff for last.
Taye Diggs. The show Private Practice would be 100% better if it involved nothing but Taye Diggs smiling. Shirtless. And sometimes in the shower.
Italian Margaritas at Carino's. Tequila. Triple Sec. Amaretto. Yum.
White flowers. Kim Myles on HGTV was just arranging a massive bouquet of white flowers for a bedroom the other night and telling us what a great tip it is to always keep fresh flowers in your room. Thank goodness a television design celebrity came along to state the perfectly obvious. If I had gobs of money, I'd always have fresh flowers around, but it's a little impractical for most of us.
Colorful flowers. Those are good too. Can you tell that I am in a springy mood?
Olay Body Ultra Moisture with shea butter bodywash. I'm not sure exactly what it smells like (almonds maybe?) but I do know that I smell delicious. Like if I get too hungry, I'm a little bit at risk of finding myself gnawing on my own forearm.
Coffee
30 Rock and the fictional human awesome that is Liz Lemon. Also Tina Fey for being a smart, funny, sexy role model for us all. It's normal to want to be her when I grow up, right?
Now you tell us. What do you love these days?

"It's normal to want to be her when I grow up, right?"
Yes, Lori. Yes it is. And I want to be her, too (as emphasized by my latest post, "Blerg").

Lately I love that the sun is still shining when I leave work. The first day that happened I may have squealed with delight. It's been a LONG winter.

I love knowing that spring is coming very quickly (even though we are expecting snow this weekend). I see the buds on trees and flowers already.
What I don't love is that you went to Carinos and had what sounds like a very yummy margarita without me.

I also love Taye Diggs. While I have no problem getting on board with the totally unrealistic "everyone having sex at work every five minutes" aspect of Private Practice, I simply can't imagine a world - fictional or not - where anyone would divorce Taye Diggs.

I eat cupcakes the exact same way. There really is no other way to eat one I think.
I just re-discovered pour over cheddar popcorn. Oh, what love.

I eat cupcakes the exact same way. I Believe that's how God intended them to be eaten.
