Yes, I am aware that it's not Tuesday. It's just, we had a storm here in the DC metro area on Sunday. It lasted less than thirty minutes and left a few hundred thousand of us without power for a couple of days there. Naturally, it occurred just after I'd been to the grocery store. The ONE TIME I didn't procrastinate that particular task and bought a whole gallon of milk. Though not procrastinating paid off when it came to having put my laundry in the drier just in time for it to be done before the power went out.
Anyway, I had this post idea in my head. It's just, I had no way of posting it. Like the pioneers, I was forced to read by candlelight, rely on a breeze to cool my place, have thoughts that I wasn't immediately able to share with people I've never met, and stop for coffee at Starbucks on the way to work.
But now the power is back! I am very excited, mostly due to the hot water, internet, and coffee maker. (In that order.) (I think.) So we'll all just pretend that this posted on Tuesday, ok? Ok.
2. My new duvet cover, which was $15 at IKEA. FIFTEEN DOLLARS!
3. IKEA in easy driving distance!
4. A good friend of mine read about these women who made it a point to stay in touch each week by sharing the best parts of their week with one another. She decided that a few of us should do it too. Particularly since this group of friends are now scattered the length of the US, it's great to have a specific time (Fridays) and place (Facebook messages) to keep in touch with one another. We keep up with what's happening with each other, specifically the good things. We write the three highlights of our week, which forces me, not only on Fridays, but all week to be aware of the good things that are happening. I think it's genius and I highly recommend that you and your friends do something similar.
5. Getting to the point where I can tell myself (and mean it!) that I only have to run four miles. Which is what I should be doing now.
And when I get back, there will (almost certainly) be air conditioning! Good stuff!
