A few years ago, Katie and I started a long-distance book club while I was living in Madison and she was in DC. I think we discovered that we were both reading The Lovely Bones or both had it or something. Anyway, we recently brought back the idea. When I explained to Raj that meant we'd both read the same book and then discuss some questions about it, he said in a tone that suggested he'd rather remove his own appendix without anesthesia, "Like in...English class?" (Replace "English class" with "PE" and there you have my response to his enthusiasm regarding Crossfit. While there is certainly overlap in our ideas of what constitutes fun, there is considerable divergence as well.) Katie and I will have our first meeting tomorrow via FaceTime to discuss The Memory Keeper's Daughter.
The idea I had was that maybe some of you might be interested in doing something similar. I thought we could somehow pick a book and anybody who was interested could read it by a date we pick and then I could post some questions and we'd discuss them in the comments. But only if there are at least a couple of you who would really want to do it and then would really read the book and actually write things in the comments. I wish I could offer you all wine and snacks as we discuss, but at least you won't have to wash your hair. Or leave your house.
Let me know what you think. If anybody is interested, we'll figure out the details from there.
