The Plan B that I mentioned for getting my computer fixed? Take it to one of the Apple Stores in Barcelona. Obviously. Because when your computer breaks and you can't get it fixed where you live, you take it to Spain. Everybody knows that.
Ok, fine. In reality, we're going to Barcelona because Raj has his orientation for grad school and first week of classes there. He applied to the #1 Masters of Public Health program in the nation, Johns Hopkins, and was accepted. I think this was largely on the strength of his essay, which as painful as it is for me to admit, was much better than the one I wrote to get into my own (unranked) masters program. This, in combination with the way that he routinely crushes me at Words With Friends, worries me that he's taking over my role around here. If he takes good at words (in addition to good at math, good at fixing things, and good at reaching/opening things) then I'm not sure what I bring to this relationship, aside from girl parts.
But it's too late! He married me while I still appeared to have utility and thus has to take me along on his trip to Barcelona! Yes, HAS TO. I didn't really give him an option. I can't stress this strongly enough folks: marry a smartypants. Then reap the rewards.
We fly out on Wednesday and get in to Barcelona on Thursday morning. So far, our only plan (aside from hitting up the Apple Store) is a cooking class we'll take on Friday, where we meet at the open-air market to shop for our ingredients, then go learn to make Spanish food, while drinking wine. (To put a comma after "food" in that sentence or not: that is the question. I have more experience with cooking while drinking wine than I do with cooking Spanish food, so the comma stands.)
Raj has his orientation and class the following Monday through Friday and then we'll have a few more days to sight-see together before flying back the next Wednesday. Maybe you've been to Barcelona (and/or the surrounding area) and have ideas of things to do and places to see? Or most importantly: things to eat and places to eat? If so, please share.
