Plus, I like vodka.

[Note: This is not the thinky post I referenced last time. After further reflection, that one is perhaps better kept to myself. See, I do have an inner editor!]
Every morning I take an interchange from one highway to another. The people coming from my direction have to merge into a lane with the people coming from the other way. Most of us get into the left lane at our first opportunity. Some people, however, must speed ahead of all of us until the right lane ends and they cut in front of everybody else. Some people even have to get out of the left lane that they were already in so that they can skip ahead. Were it not for this behavior, the left lane would move smoothly. But instead, we all have to slow down or stop in order to let these people cut us off.
The intensity of my anger toward these people is perhaps a little bit disproportionate to their crime. They don’t slow me down that much. They do, however, seem to think that they are so important, so much more important than the rest of us, that we should all let them go ahead of us while they slow us down in the process. That’s what really gets my goat. (Oh yes, my goat, she is gotten.)
If it bothers me so much, then why don’t I just fly up to the front of the right lane too? I have no need to be a part of the problem, people. I can get in line just like everybody else. I just can’t believe that my time and gas are that much more vital than anybody else’s.
Which leads me to my conclusion: I think this means I would have made an excellent Soviet.
I’m not saying I wish I had lived in Soviet Russia or anything. I despise cold weather and enjoy both democracy and freedom of speech. I just feel like I might have had a proclivity for it is all.
Unlike you, jackass drivers of San Antonio. Respect the line.
